"Harvest" - Acrylic Paint on Canvas
New painting I finished recently in preparation for an upcoming group exhibition in November which will include 4 of my paintings. Really enjoyed painting this.
"Charlie and Tiger"
"Charlie and Tiger" - Acrylic paint on canvas.
I painted this portrait of Charlie and his best friend Tiger for a recent submission to a portrait competition. Unfortunately the painting was not shortlisted on this occasion however I really enjoyed painting the portrait and was grateful to Charlie for giving me permission to paint his portrait from a photo taken by photographer Fran Veale.
What an amazing man Charlie is, what he has done for Irish Motor Neuron Disease and Pieta House raising 3.2 million in much needed funds through the climbwithcharlie climb of Croagh Patrick on April 2nd while dealing with the impact of Motor Neuron himself.

"Fr Peter McVerry"
"Fr Peter McVerry" - Acrylic Paint on Canvas Board.
I recently watched the RTE series "Keys to My Life" featuring Fr Peter McVerry looking back at all of places he lived throughout his life. I was aware of Peter and the work he was doing but the programme really got me interested in finding out more. As a result i decided to paint his portrait and I'm happy with how it turned out.
What unbelievable work this man has done and continues to do for homelessness in Dublins inner city and beyond devoting his whole life helping others in extreme circumstances battling social injustice.
“Everyone, just by virtue of being a human being, has the right to sufficient resources to enable them to survive and live a dignified human life, and a right to be respected and valued by others.” Fr Peter McVerry

"Choctaw Nation"
"Choctaw Nation" - Acrylic Paint on Canvas Board
The Choctaw Nation are an Native American Indian Tribe who have a close and long relationship with Ireland dating back to 1847 when they sent $170 to the Irish people during the Geat Famine despite the Choctaw people themselves living in hardship and poverty and having recently endured the Trail of Tears where they were forcibly removed from their ancestral homelands in the Southeastern United States to newly designated Indian Territory in what's Oklahoma today.
A sculpture "Kindered Spirits" located in Midleton, Co. Cork was unveiled in 2017 and commemorates the 1847 donation by the Native American Choctaw People to the Irish people.
A sculpture "Eternal Heart" honoring the relationship between the Choctaw Nation and the people of Ireland was also erected in 2023 on the Choctaw Capitol grounds in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma.

This is a recent commission of an iconic movie from 1987 about two out-of-job actors who travel to the English countryside to spend a weekend with their uncle. But they soon end up getting into enough trouble to put them off the idea of visiting the area again. Very funny movie.
This is the largest piece I have painted to date.

"Shane, Sinead & Christy"
"Shane, Sinead & Christy" - Acrylic Paint on Canvas
New painting recently completed and a contender for inclusion in the Annual Askamore Art Exhibition opening on Wednesday 20th of November.
I have been wanting to paint the three for some time - Shane MacGowan, Sinead O'Connor and Christie Dignam so delighted with how it turned out. This painting was inspired by the An Phost stamps recently released to commemorate Iconic Irish Voices.
Three very talented Irish singers and songwriters that we sadly lost in 2023.

"Self Portrait 2024"
My recent self-portrait that I painted as my submission for a self portrait competition. I hope you like it. Decided to do a full body portrait this time and overall I'm happy with how it turned out. Delighted to have included the painting of my late Dad in the background. Time to buy a new pair of socks 🙂.
"Golden Goal"
"Golden Goal" - Acylic Paint on canvas board.
This was one of the key moments in the recent Wexford County Hurlung Final.
Patrick Breen carved through the St Martin's defence and kicked the sliothar past the goalkeeper into the top right corner of the goal. An amazing solo effort which swung the game in Ferns St Aidans favour right on the half-hour mark and sent Pat Bennett's men in at the break leading by the minimum (1-9 to 0-11).

"Girl with a Pearl Earring"
"Girl with a Pearl Earring" - soft pastel study for a larger painting. Love the contrast of the yellow and blue against the black background and the pale skin of the girl.
Original was painted in oils by the great Dutch Golden Age painter Vermeer in 1665.

"Mr & Mrs Lockie Murphy" - this is a commission I recently painted of a well known and respected Ferns couple celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary, what amazing milestone. Congratulations Lockie and Nuala. Delighted to be able to share this painting.

"Rolling Thunder Revue"
"Rolling Thunder Revue" - acrylic paint on canvas (20"x30").
The Rolling Thunder Revue was a 1975–1976 concert tour by Bob Dylan with many musicians and collaborators joining the tour on the road and stage. The tour allowed Bob play in smaller auditoriums in less populated cities where he could be more intimate with his audiences.
I really enjoyed painting this iconic moment in musical history for the biggest Bob fan in Belfast. It's off now to the framing shop before delivery.

"Self Portrait - 2"
I finished the portrait of this handsome fellow 😁 this week. I have been working on this one, on and off, for four weeks so delighted it's now finished. It's a bit odd seeing your own face appear on the canvas but interesting experience overall. You are more critical also as you know all the features well.
Artists have painted self portraits for centuries to advertise their ability to capture a likeness but also the model is always available and of course free 😁.

"The King, "Pelé"
"The King, "Pelé" - acrylic paint and polychromos pencils.
I painted this portrait of Pelé over Christmas. The greatest footballer of all time, averaging a goal per game throughout his career and of course winning three World Cups.
This was my submission for the Wexford Lions Club 2023 Open Arts Exhibition at the Wexford Arts Centre. The Exhibition will be on view in the lower and upper galleries of Wexford Arts Centre from Monday 15th January – Saturday 4th February 2023 and will officially open on Saturday 14th of January 2023. Always worth a visit.

"David Attenborough"
"David Attenborough" - Acrylic paint on canvas board. Broadcaster, biologist, natural historian and author. 96 years old and still going strong. He has introduced us to amazing animals and sea life from around the world. I could listen to his voice all day.
"Joanne O'Riordan"
"Joanne O'Riordan" - Acrylic Paint on canvas board. What an amazing young woman, I had the pleasure of attending a conference in work earlier this week where Joanne told us her story. She was so funny, articulate and inspiring. Joanne was born with a condition called Tetre Amelia (born with no limbs). She is 1 of only 7 in the world with this condition. This has never stopped Joanne, she has been an activist for disability from a young age addressing the United Nations in 2012 at 16 years of age. Joanne is also an journalist with the Irish Times and RTE and big fan of Barcelona and her sporting hero Lional Messi who she got to meet. Joanne also has a degree in criminology and psychology. What an amazing role model. One thing that Joanne shared that stuck with me was the only obstacle in life is ourselves which is so true.

"Ronnie Drew"
Chalk Pastels on Sugar Paper
"Ronnie Drew" - born Joseph Ronald Drew singer with The Dubliners for 50 years. Decided to go back to pastels for a change.
Really enjoy pastels as the they are fast as there is no waiting time like paint and help to keep the drawing skills sharp.
